I've been ripped off, betrayed to police, lied to and this firm has done everything to keep it out of court.
I found Lauren Macdougall a compulsive liar.
Unprofessional Conduct
My experience with Lauren Macdougall and Carly Hyde was disastrous, and I strongly recommend against retaining their services. They are a complete disgrace to the bar and legal system. The handling of the case led to significant financial loss and a lost trial.
- Breach of Confidentiality: Confidential emails of communication were sent to the police without consent, which I consider a severe breach of trust.
- Unacceptable Delays: Case was subject to delays of six years, which had a major negative impact on the proceedings.
- Flawed Legal Advice and Failed Actions: The legal advice provided was flawed, claiming the DPP may lie and manipulate trials, and crucial actions, such as filing an appeal, were not completed.
- Threats and Intimidation: Subjected to threats and intimidation during the process by Carly Hyde.
It appears they may collaborate with the DPP. Both Lauren and Carly has also come from a failed legal partnership from Kornmagdougall.
Beyond the issues of costs and betrayal, Lauren Macdougall's actions revealed a troubling pattern of manipulation. From begging to stay on the case despite clear issues, to repeatedly lying it became evident she was doing everything to manipulate and keep the case out of court, seemingly against my best interests.
Here's why you should heed this warning
- Profound Betrayal & Suspected Collaboration with DPP: Their conduct, ranging from lengthy delays and dishonest legal advice (claiming the DPP can lie and manipulate cases) to sending confidential emails directly to the police, can only lead to suspicions of her assisting the DPP in convictions and doing everything to uphold those convictions despite the trial being completely manipulated, completely betraying their client.
- Lauren Caused 5 Years of Delays (Pre-Appeal) & Exorbitant Costs: The case was unnecessarily prolonged, with Lauren Macdougall creating five years of delays before an appeal was even filed. I was outrageously charged $2,750 for an adjournment and $2,750 for just one hour in court, when both of these services should have cost only $550 each.
- Confirmed Errors Lost The Trial: Their shockingly amateurish or deliberate errors, subsequently confirmed by Barrister Mr Thomas Woods, directly caused the loss.
Due to these severe issues—including betrayal, Lauren's deliberate manipulation, creation of excessive delays, exorbitant and unjustified costs, confirmed errors, and highly questionable ethics—we cannot recommend Lauren Macdougall or Carly Hyde. Avoid at all costs.
An email was sent to the high court to take action to have Lauren Macdougall in front of a judge. Although she may not be suspended. Do yourself a favour and use a credible law firm.
